WATERLOO - Darlis A. Barta, 70, New Hampton, and formerly of Waterloo, died at the Waverly Municipal Hospital on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002 of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7 at Christ Lutheran Church, Waterloo.

Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo.

Visitation was 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6 at Garden View Chapel, Waterloo, where there was a 7 p.m. Prayer Service, and also one hour prior to services at the church.

Darlis was born Feb. 8, 1931 in Bremer County, the daughter of John and Sophie D. (Reese) Edgeton. She married Harry C. Barta on June 1, 1957 in Fair-bank. She was retired from the office of Northwestern Bell after 30 years of service. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Fredericksburg and an active member of the Women of the Moose for many years. She was a past president of the WOM Auxiliary #333 and received a College of Regents Degree from the WOM Auxiliary and was the current College of Regents Chairperson.

 

Survivors include two daughters, Valerie J. Lape and Judy A. Fox, both of Waterloo; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert J. Etgeton, LaBelle, FL and Lyle J. Etgeton, Fairbank and a sister, Alice Weaver, Fajrbank.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Harry, in 1993; a sister, Marlene Culbertson and a granddaughter.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
