WAVERLY - Alvin W. Barkhausen, 76, Waverly, died Thursday, April 18, 2002 at his home of natural causes.

Funeral Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 22 at First Baptist Church, Waverly with Rev. Brian Wilkins officiating.

Burial was in Harlington Cemetery.

Visitation was from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 21 at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly.

Alvin was born April 15, 1926 in Detroit, MI, the son of Wilmur and Ida Hulda (Lindner) Barkhausen. He was baptized in July 1926 in Detroit, Ml. He attended school until the 11th grade in Waverly. He received his GED in 1974. He served in the Army from 1944-1946. On Nov. 6, 1949, he was united in marriage to Alice C. Crooks at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. The couple made their home in Waverly, where Alvin worked construction for 34 years until retiring in 1980. Alvin was a member of the V.F.W. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, the outdoors, carpentry and spending time with his friends and family.

Survivors include . his wife, Alice; one son, Allen (Beverly) Barkhausen, Waterloo; two daughters, Beverly (Paul) Leistikow, Denver and Carolyn (Chris) Huber, Jerico; six grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; two brothers,Francis Barkhausen, Las Vegas, NV and Hal Barkhausen, Venice, CA; two sisters, Josephine Barkhausen, Riverside, CA and Ruby Barkhausen, Las Vegas, NV.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one son, Eugene, in 1972 and one sister, Mary.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
