Eickhoff, Beula G. nee Ziehe 1923 - 2001

BASSETT - Beula Eickhoff, 78, Bassett, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2001 at her home of natural causes.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29 at Conway Funeral Home, New Hampton with Reverend David Bergstrom officiating. Edith Kolthoff will be the organist and will accompany those in attendance singing "Precious Memories", "Sweet By and By" and "Old Rugged Cross".

Inurnment will be at a later date. Honorary casket bearers will be Jacob Price, Caleb Bates, Zachary Hill, Alexander Mack, Taylor Martins, Chase Martins and Adam Eickhoff.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28 at Conway funeral Home, New Hampton and also an hour prior to services at the funeral home on Saturday.

Beula Garnet Eickhoff was born July 30, 1923 in Plainfield, the daughter of Carl Otto and Eva Clarissa (Jordan) Ziehe. She graduated from Plainfield High School and went on to the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls where she received her teaching degree. After her schooling she taught in one-room schoolhouses for nine years in the Nashua area.

She married William H. Eickhoff Jr. at the Little Brown Church in Nashua on Dec. 31, 1947. Following their marriage, the couple resided in Plainfield for 11 years, and then on an acreage three miles east and three miles south for another 11 years. The couple then moved to New Hampton where they resided for three years before moving to a farm in Bassett in 1966, where they were currently residing. Beula spent a lot of her time working on the farm and milking. She worked with special needs children through Foster Grandparents out of Charles City for ten years. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting and fishing.

Survivors include her husband, William H.; seven daughters, Monica Bates, Decorah, Judith Jordan, Plain-view, MN, Linda (Jim) Price, Helena, MT, Wynette (Jim) Hill, Shell Rock, Kathy (Jerry) Groschens, Plymouth, Pam (Olu) Martins, Scottsdale, AZ and Hope Eickhoff, Bassett; a son, Tom Eickhoff, Bassett; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildreri and a rother, Wayne Ziehe, Renton, WA.

Preceding her in death were her parents; a brother, Coy and a sister, Doris.
