LAWLER -- Jean M. Folkers, 51, Lawler, died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001 in Sioux City.

A Memorial Mass was held 11 a.m. Mondav, Oct. 29 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Lawler with Rev. Marvin Salz officiating. Lector was Brian Murray. Ruth McKone was organist with Colleen Busta ana Deb Speltz as vocalists.

Interment was in the church cemetery with Tom Folkers, Pat Folkers, Charlie Murray, Mike Murray, Robert Leo Smith, Willie Kuennen and Steve Speltz as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation was 3-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28 at Hugeback Funeral Home, Lawler, with a 7 p.m. Parish Scripture Service.

Jean M. Murray was born Aug. 27,1950 in New Hampton, the daughter of Cletus and Dorothy (Schlindwein) Murray. She attended grade school in Lawler and was a 1968 graduate of Turkey Valley High School. On Nov. 7, 1970 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Lawler, she married Jim Folkers. Since 1970, the couple had made Lawler their home. Jeannie owned and operated a beauty shop in Lawler for 30 years. She enjoyed boating on the river, her garden, decorating and following the wrestling’ teams.

Survivors include her husband, Jim; two sons, Mark (Angie) Folkers, Urbandale and Paul (Amy) Folkers, Sioux City; two grandchildren; three sisters, Elaine (Bob) Sonka, Albert Lea, MN, Joanne (Robert) Buelow, Allendale, NJ and Judy Sullivan, New Hampton; two brothers, Charlie Murray, Elkhorn, WI and Mike Murray, Lawler.

Preceding her in death were her parents and a sister, Maureen Vogt.
