DRAPE, Marlin J. 1928 - 2001

FREDERICKSBURG

Marlin J. Drape, 73, Fredericksburg, died Sunday, June 24, 2001 at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton of natural causes.

Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 28 at the United Methodist Church in Fredericksburg with Pastor Pamela Flanigan officiating. Eva Male Niewoenner was organist and Gail Allison was vocalist, singing "On Eagle’s Wings".

Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Fredericksburg, with Gary Steege, Kenneth Harada, Loren Mattke, Harold Nordaas, Jim McFarland and Hugh Mackintosh as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers were Glenn Fenneman, Robert Wendland, Leon and Shirley Kruse, Amos and Jean Brandenberg, Russell and Alice Wendland.

Visitation was Wednesday, June 27 from 4-7 p.m. at the Chenoweth &. Son Funeral Home in Fredericksburg and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.

Marlin was born June 9,1928 in Chickasaw County, the son of Arthur and Marie (DeBettignies) Drape. He attended New Hampton Elementary and High School. He married Lois Lee Gifford on Dec. 2, 1944 at Bentonville, AR. They lived on their farm north of Fredericksburg until 1953 when they purchased the Stork Hatchery and moved to the house where they presently reside. * The couple were both active in the business and continued the farming operation. In 1996, Marlin semi-retired from Stork Hatchery and sold the incubators but continued selling birds for other hatcheries. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Fredericksburg and enjoyed fishing, boating and all water sports.

Surviving are nis wife, Lois, Fredericksburg; one daughter, Dawn Aschenbrenner, Fredericksburg; three sons, Larry (Brenda) Drape, Seoul, South Korea, Kayle (Linda) Drape and Milo (Jolee) Drape, Fredericksburg; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were a great-grandchild, Jamie Lynn Drape; nis parents; two sisters, Beatrice Werhan and Naletta Drape.

Memorials may be directed to the family or charity of donor's choice.
