NASHUA - Hazel D. Chamney, 97, died Oct. 7, 2001 at the Bartel's Lutheran Home, Waverly of natural causes.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 1 p.m. at the First Congregational Church; Nashua.

Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Nashua.

Visitation was from 10 a.m.< until service time at the church on Wednesday, Oct. 10.

Hazel was born Feb. 2, 1904 in Cedar Falls, the daughter of Robert and Ruth .(Archer) Frisby. She attended schools in Cedar Falls, Lang and Estevan, Saskatchewan, Canada. She married Harold Chamney on Oct. 7, 1923 in Estevan, Saskatchewan, Canada. She was a homemaker. She was a 50-year member of the Rebekah Lodge and also served as District President. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary, serving as District President.

Survivors include one sister, Mabel Westen, Floodwood, MN; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Harold, in 1974; her parents; two sons, Floyd Chamney, killed on Iwo Jima on March 15, 1945 and Donald Chamney, in 1965; four brothers, Les, Lloyd, Roger and Donald and one sister, Margaret Reynolds.
