BREHENY, Eleanor A. nee MURPHY 1912 - 2001

MASON CITY - Eleanor Agatha Breheny, 88, Mason City, formerly of Clear Lake and New Hampton, died Wednesday, Marcn 7, 2001 in Mason City.

A Funeral Mass was

held Saturday, March 10 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Clear Lake, with Msgr. Robert Hogan officiating.

Interment was in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Visitation was one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Eleanor was born Aug. 25, 1912 in New Hampton, the daughter of Thomas and Agnes (Noughton) Murphy. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School in New Hampton and gaduated from New Hampton high School in 1930. She attended Mount Mercy College, Cedar Rapids. On July 22,1932, Eleanor married C. Patrick Breheny at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Des Moines. The couple moved to Clear Lake in 1946 where she worked for Helm's Dairy and then worked for the Department of Social Services until her retirement in 1978. Eleanor was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and was past Grand Regent of C.D.A., St. Catherine's Circle and volunteered for R.S.V.P., Girl Scouts and was a CYO leader.

Surviving are three children, Mary Margaret (Mike) Delaney, Wood Dale, IL, Barbara (Lloyd) Piper, Chico, CA, Patrick (Tonja) Breheny, Bismark, ND; eight grandchildren and stepgrandcnildren; a sister-in-law, Lorretta Murphy, New Hampton.

Preceding her in death were her husband, C. Patrick in 1961; a son, Terry in 1986; her parents; three sisters, Alice, Merce and Marie; one brother, Gerald.

Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Clear Lake, or the Salvation Army.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
