WELL KNOWN RIVER MEN WERE DROWNED
The Storm
Yesterday overturned and Sank Steamer Ravenna
A dispatch by the Associated press last night brought the news that
the tornado yesterday overturned and sank the steamer Ravenna at he
Maquoketa Chute, four miles up the river from Dubuque, while 15 of
the crew, who clung to the bottom of the boat were rescued by the
steamer Teal.
The dead are:
Capt. Hoy, aged 52: Clerk, Byron Trask, aged 42, both of Stillwater,
Minn. Louis Walker, aged 19, of Reed’s Landing, and a Mr. Dell, aged
33, of La Crosse. The Ravenna is a rafter well known here.
