WINFIELD is a small village in this township, with ample room to grow larger.
The Township is, as yet, but sparcely settled--having a population of 556 persons. The Keokuk, Mt. Pleasant and Muscatine Railroad is located through this township.
Timber is not very abundant, but the land, both as to beauty and fertility of soil, is unequalled.

TRENTON, the only village in this Township, has a population of 249 souls. Two stores, a hotel, church and school house.
The township is thickly settled and well improved, and has a population of 1184.

This Township has no villages, but it is none the worse for that. It is rapidly filling up with an industrious and enterprising people.
This Township and Scott adjoining it on the east, are perhaps the most beautifully situated, and in time will become the most populous and wealthy of any in the county.
