ENUMERATOR'S REMARKS:
There has been no particular disease generally prevailing: health good as usual-
Water pure and good, impregnated with lime (usually called "Limestone water" or "hard water"
Soil a rich permeable loam with a clay sub soil but little sand; produces. Corn, wheat, oats
grass, potatoes, rye & ? Abundantly. Limestone is the principal rock formation some of which is of
very fine quality bearing a polish equal to fine Italian marble. Some sand stone is found and also
flint pebbles & a few Boulders are scattered over the prairies- fruit trees grow ? & [rest cut off]

ENUMERATOR'S REMARKS:
Kinds of lumber Oak, Hickory, Li? Or Bass woods. Sugar maple, Ash, Hackberry
Buckeye-Elm-Walnut-Butternut, Wild Cherry &c of native fruit there are grapes, plums
Blackberries- Raspberries- strawberries &c. Stone Coal of the Bituminous kind has been discovered on many
places, limestone is abundant. The fall seasons of 1848 and 1849 were very wet and the potato not prevailed
so both seasons to the almost entire destruction of the crop. It has not prevailed so greatly
in 1850 although the season has been unusually wet.
