Wayland News – February 22, 2006 COURTS AND LEGAL THINGS The grand jury
session at Mt. Pleasant last week returned an indictment against Wilbur Wilson
of Mt. Pleasant on the charge of obtaining goods under false pretenses. It seems
that some time ago, Wilson telephoned the Koch’s shoe store, representing
himself to be his brother-in-law living in the country, and offered to stand
good for a pair of shoes to be sold to Wilson. Soon after, Wilson call the store
thinking it was all right sold him the goods. It is now claimed that the
brother-in-law had no conversation with the Koch people in regard to the matter
and did not offer to stand good for the shoes. Wilson was suspected of crooked
work and his case investigated by the grand jury, which resulted in the
indictment found against him. Submitted by Ann Miller White – March 2009 |
