Abstract of Civil War Widow's Pension File of Celinda Moore, Widow of Pvt. James D. Moore, Co. K, 4th Iowa Cavalry.

1. James D. Moore enlisted Oct. 30, 1861 at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, in Co. K, 4th Iowa Cavalry for a term of three years and was mustered in as a private on Aug. 25, 1861 at Mt. Pleasant in said company and regiment.

2. James D. Moore died June 30, 1863, in Memphis, Tenn. of wounds received June 22, 1863 in the duty of his service to the United States.

3. Per “Act of July 14, 1862,” Celinda Moore, post office Trenton, Jefferson Twp., Henry Co., Iowa, applied Aug. 4, 1863 for widow’s pension #29,820.

4. Copy of marriage record of Henry Co., Iowa, stating that James D. Moore and Celinda Price were married March 1, 1855 at the residence of Martin Price by L. C. Woodford, minister of the gospel.

5. Celinda Moore granted pension on Jan. 29, 1864 at the rate of $8 per month, payments retroactive to June 30, 1863.

6. Per “Act of July, 1866” Celinda Moore, post office Marshall, Henry Co., on Sept. 15, 1866, applied for an increase in pension for her two minor children, Samuel L. C. Moore, born Jan. 24, 1857 and Francis P. Moore, born Nov. 6, 1859.

7. Affidavit of Dr. W. A. Ardery, of Wapello Co., stating that he was the attending physician at the birth of Samuel L. C. Moore on Jan. 24, 1857.

8. Affidavit of Judith Price, resident of Henry Co., dated Oct. 4, 1866, stating that she was present at the birth of Francis P. Moore in Henry Co. on Nov. 6, 1859.

9. Increase in pension granted May 16, 1868, at the rate of $8 per month, with an additional $2 for each minor child, payable until child reaches the age of 16, payment retroactive to July 25, 1866.

10. Letter dated Dec. 19, 1885 from Celinda Moore, address Beattie, Kansas, to the Pension Bureau, requesting if she was due an additional bounty for her husband's service, and that she had only received $100 in bounty money; that she was in poor health and unable to support herself.

11. Celinda Moore dropped from pension roll on account of her death on Oct. 25, 1890 in Beattie, Marshall Co., Kans.; last payment of $12 on Dec. 24, 1890.
