The Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (RLDS) was formally organized April 6, 1860 under the leadership of the son of the founder, Joseph Smith, III. There were many LDS members in southwest Iowa in the 1850s and 1860s, who were joined by others returning from Utah.
Between two and three thousand of these joined the "RLDS" Church in the early 1860s to 1875, the time period these branch records cover. The church is now known as Community of Christ.

Harris Grove Branch, Harrison Co., IA
Information on the Harris Grove Branch: LaGrance Twp., Harrison Co.
Harris Grove was an early Mormon settlement, 28 miles northeast of
Kanesville (Council Bluffs). Original settlement had about 30 families,
about 150 people. Most LDS had left by 1852. RLDS branch organized 15
August 1870 by Charles Derry. The membership report I put together
dates from 7 December 1872. I found nothing earlier. It was
disorganized between 1873 and 1875.
