ORVILLE GRANGER

Orville GRANGER, (deceased) was born in Vermont, in 1827. He remained at home until the death of his mother, when he was sixteen years of age, after which he went to the pineries of Wisconsin, and then came to Chicago, which was but a small village at the time. He came to Harrison County, about 1856, and settled at Calhoun, remained two years and in the spring of 1859, moved to Cincinnati Township. His place was on section 11. At the time of his death he had two hundred and eighty acres of land. The house in which he lived was among the first houses built in Harrison County, and although it is still in use, it was built at least forty years ago. Mr. Granger bought and moved it from Cincinnati. Our subject was married to Miss Eliza A. Smith in Wisconsin, and they were the parents of six children. Our subject died in the eastern part of the State, while on his way to Chicago in the autumn of 1883. The mother lives at Missouri Valley, at the French-American Chop-House.
