Joseph Rew (1830-1900) married Betsey Ellen HALL (1831-1899) in Wisconsin and went to Eldora, IA after 1867. Children, Horace REW, Harvey REW, Flora REW (1859-1915) married John A. HALL (1852-1929), George Howard REW, Clara Ellen REW (1863-1934) married George L. LEWIS (1859-1900), and Lula Mae REW (1867-1939) married Edward H. LUNDY (1871-1959). I am looking for Joseph W. MOON, born March 12, 1851 in New York and his wife Minna WORMAN MOON, born in Hanover, Germany on April 12, 1850, they lived in Hardin County, Iowa in the 1880's their child Eldon Carey Moon born in 1887 in Iowa is my grandfather. My grandfather married Anna Mae POLLEY. I do not know where she was born. Her parents were Charles William POLLEY and Sarah NOYER, They also lived in Harden County Jackson Township in the 1800"s. I think I have kinfolks in the Steamboat Rock Cemetary named MOON, POLLEY. I can not get an answer to let me into the Cemetary Map. I am trying to find the names of the parents of Joseph W. MOON, and the parents of Charles William POLLEY, and all information I can about their wives Minna WORMAN MOON, and Saarah NOYER POLLEY. My grandmother Anna Mae POLLEY MOON died in 1918, she may be buried in Hazel Green Cemetary also.

I am looking for connections to the Joseph and Dora Wagner family who lived in the Alden and Iowa Falls areas of Hardin County. Joseph and family (Sophia, William and John) came to the US in 1871 from Rostock, Germany. Joseph died in Iowa Falls of an illness in 1872. I would dearly love an obituary for him. Joseph and Dora's daughter Sophia was already married to Henry Lester KREAGER when they came from Germany. Family history has it that John and William WAGNER stayed in Iowa when Sophia and Henry went north to MN in the 1890's.

Seek information on William Avery P. EBERHART, his wife Harriett MASON (b. 1834), and children Albert G., William P., Fredrick G., Justin A., and Harry. Wilford was a Methodist minister and served as a chaplain in the Civil War. The family moved to Hardin County in the mid-1800s, probably after the Civil War. I have some info on Caroline, but little on the two brothers. A third bro. Elmus came to Hardin Co. abt. 1854/5 met and md. Miriam HADLOCK. They moved back to Illinois. Otman Uke LUPKES Born at Petkum, Ostfreisen, Germany, May 5, 1856, son of Mr. and Mrs. Uke Lupkes, emigrated to the United States at the age of 26, first settling at ACKLEY, HARDIN CO, IOWA in 1881. He married Miss Hilka MUDDER, to which union five children were born. After the death of his first wife, he married Miss Antje BRUNS in 1892 and to this union nine children were born. The Lupkes family moved to Rushmore, Minnesota in 1899 and four years later moved to Traverse County to settle on a homestead seven miles east and one mile north of Wheaton. Mr. Lupkes died June 4, 1942 at the age of 86 years and 29 days. He and his wife are buried at Wildwood Cemetery, Lake Valley Township, Minnesota.

Benjamin was a Civil War veteran whose daughter, Bertha Serena was b.Aug. 5, 1867 at "Lee," Illinois. Bertha was married in 1890 in Hardin County to Edward Eli ROREM a resident of Hardin County having emigrated there from Norway with his parents in 1867. The nearest town was Radcliffe which today is apparently just over the border in Hamilton County. Edward and Bertha left Hardin county for Mora, Minnesota soon after marriage. My great grandfather, David BENNETT, b. 1826 Lycoming CO (now Sullivan CO.) PA owned land in Hardin CO. Iowa. He and his young nephew, son of his brother, Thomas Bennett, were plowing the field in Hardin CO. and were both fatally struck by lightening 26 May 1855. David BENNETT was only 29 years old and left his wife, Catherine (BOSTON) BENNETT, and four children. The surnames of most interest to me are HARKNESS and LOGAN. My g-g-g- grandfather, Robert HARKNESS, and his wife, Charlotte (ne LOGAN) farmed in the township of Etna from about 1870 till his death in 1879. Although Charlotte remarried to a William MORRIS, when she died in 1904 she was buried near her first husband and five of their children in Hazel Green Cemetery. Charlotte's parents, Thomas and Esther LOGAN, lived on an adjoining farm in Etna, and they too are buried in Hazel Green. Charlotte and Robert HARKNESS' eldest son, David HARKNESS, was killed in a railroading accident in 1904 and is buried in Rowan, Wright Co., IA. RANGER : HARDIN COUNTY RESEARCH
I am looking for William RANGER who died May 1885 in Hardin Co. and his wife Mercy RANGER-(COY) who died January 1887 in Grundy Center(Grundy county) but was a resident of Steamboat Rock. Their OBITUARIES should be in the Eldora Herald. I am also looking for both DEATH RECORDS at the county courthouses. Both are buried in Steamboat Rock Cemetery (need CEM. RECORDS) and/or photo of grave. If anybody can copy these for me, I will pay for that service!!

BENSHOOF, KELLOG, RILEY

My g g grandfather was John RILEY who came to Ellis, Hardin County in 1864. He had 8 children, Henry, Albert (my g grandfather), Ezra J, Preston W, Eda, Frank, Martha and Minnie. Albert married Catherine Jane BENSHOOF, daughter of Nancy and Samuel BENSHOOF, also of Ellis. Sam and Nancy moved to Buckeye in 1863. I would appreciate any information on my family heritage, including whether any RILEYS still live in the Iowa Falls area who are descendants of Preston or Frank who I have reason to believe remained in the area. The same applies for the BENSHOOF line. The BENSHOOFs had a son Samuel W BENSHOOF who married Calra E KELLOG of Buckeye.

Looking for the HENSLEY family of Iowa Falls. Lived in that area starting around 1900. Husband James HENSLEY, wife Lily May (LINHART) HENSLEY. Both were born in Northern Missouri, and relocated here. They had many children, including five sons who were in the military simultaneously. Lily HENSLEY was, I have heard, Iowa Mother of the Year (bestowed by whom?)
