William Meyers, Asher Boldon, Thos. Bailey, and Sumner Kemp were among the first who came to Alden. The first child born in Alden township was Charlotte Crawford; the fist marriage was on July 1, 1856, when Chas. Philo and Hanna E. Boldon were united at the residence of the brides parents, Lott Clover, Esq. officiating. The first death in the township was on July 28th. 1853 which was Mary Ann, daughter of Wm. and Julia Meyers. The first hotel was built by M.J. Rosecrans in 1853.
