This index was compiled by the Hancock County
Genealogical Society. From 1981 thru 1986 all 26 of the cemeteries in
Hancock County were walked and the gravestone information recorded.
Working with this base information the Society then borrowed the cemetery
and church burial records when available to get a complete as possible
listing of burials. Information for some cemeteries have been updated
every few years using the cemetery burial records. Through the years,
much of the information for this index has been compiled using county
records, newspapers, family genealogies, county histories, funeral home
records and other available resources. Many names have various spellings,
the name is spelled as found on the gravestone. The female entries have
been cross referenced from maiden name to married name when available.
This is an ongoing works in progress and
there are many deaths and burials which have occurred since 1986 not
recorded in this index. Additional information, when available, for a
death entry may be obtained from the Hancock County Genealogical Society.
Do not contact the township trustees or cemetery sextons for
