Christy Town was a small settlement in NW/SW Sec 31-86-23 in Scott
Township. A widow by the name of Mrs. Christy Ness settled along the
banks of the Skunk River, the settlement taking her name. Other settlers
moved into the area to join her.
A small cemetery is located on the west side of the river, just to the
north of Christy Town. Later, Mrs. Ness married a man named Nessa and
moved from the area, but the name stayed with the settlement. As many as
twelve families lived here at one time. Today, the site is the home of
the Riverside Bible Camp.
