WPA Cemetery Index

PLEASE NOTE: During the 1930s, a program was instituted to survey the cemeteries. This was done by the WPA. Various sources were used.  The history can be read at:  http://iowawpagraves.org/history.php 

Accuracy leaves something to be desired, however, for some of our ancestors this is the only record of their death. You may notice a name or comment in brackets - these are differences that the transcriber found from the Master cemetery index done by the Guthrie Co Gen Society. Not every record has been checked.

Under the comments column you will find an occasional reference to a date and a newspaper name along with a town. These are the dates that the obituary or other article appeared and the paper that they appeared in. These are not the only people that had obituaries.
