Pioneer Certificates
Did you have an ancestor who lived in Greene County by 1870 or before? If so, contact Shirley Ross, Corresponding Secretary and Pioneer Certificate chairperson for an application packet. Our Pioneer Certificate program was started in 1996 to help commemorate Iowa's Sesquicentennial. The certificates are on high quality, 8 1/2 x 11 parchment colored paper with brown lettering and background sketch done by one or our members, Jeanne Marchant Maxwell. Your name (or other recipient) and the name of the pioneer ancestor are done in calligraphy by another member, Jane Millard. They make excellent gifts and are suitable for framing. What a wonderful way to honor the memory of your ancestor!
