at Chariton, Iowa, May 6, 1896. Wife: Mrs.
Ruth Caviness, Charles City, Iowa. Shortly before his death, at
his own request, he was trans ferred on special duty to the
Second Battalion Scouts, where he soon became known as a
skillful and accurate patrol worker.
