Clifford K. Stevens
Corporal, Company F

Killed March 9, 1918 at Lorraine Front, near Badonvillier. Buried March
13th in Pexonne Cemetery, Grave No. 3. Son of Mr. and Mrs. M.
C. Stevens, Brooks, Maine. Corporal Stevens was a
very good soldier, always handling his squad in splendid
manner, especially under fire. He had gone through
the greater part of the barrage and was almost out of range
of the shells when several grenades were accidentally
exploded near him, killing him instantly. He was a
graduate of Brown University and was a principal of schools
in civil life.

Charles M. McCord
Corporal, Company I
Died March 11, 1918, at Camp Hospital No. 24 at Langres, France of meningitis.
Son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert McCord, Burlington, Iowa. Corporal McCord went to France with
the company and
was taken sick while the regiment was receiving its preliminary training at Morder,
France.
He was a capable squad leader and, had; he lived,
would, no doubt, have given a good account of himself
in battle. |
