No. 4, Map of Pannes. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward
Doocy, Pittsfield, Illinois. Lieutenant Doocy was
killed by a machine gun bullet while leading his
platoon through the wire. In the gas attack,
Lieutenant Doocy had charge of the sentries on guard
in the trenches and he won the loyalty and love of
his men by going all out during the bombardment to
see that they were all safe. He was awarded the D. S.
C. by General Pershing for his bravery and daring
under fire at Champagne and Chateau Thierry.
