        Son of Mrs. Luella Fillman, St. Petersburg, Pennsylvania. Killed July 26, 1918 at Chateau Thierry. Private Rankin was killed by a bursting shrapnel shell in the advance of July 26. He was a popular man with the men and made a record as a fearless soldier.

         Killed at Chateau Thierry near Epieds, July 26, 1918. Buried in Grave No. 25-B, Map of Conde-en-brie. Son of Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Grammer, Ottumwa, Iowa. Private Grammer was with the company when the enemy concentrated a heavy shell fire on their position. A fragment of shell pierced the abdomen of Private Grammer and killed him instantly. He had a smile and a joke for everyone. He had proven himself to be a good soldier.
