Eugene Colburn died Monday, 12:30 p.m. at Ames, Iowa, where he was a student in the auto mechanics school, death being due to pneumonia following an attack of influenza.

Eugene Willard Colburn son of Charles and Dora Colburn was born in West Union, Iowa, Nov. 9, 1896. He was a graduate of the high school in 1916 after which he attended Upper Iowa University at Fayette one year. For the past year he had been operating the Colburn lunch room. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Dora Colburn of West Union and his brother Charles Albert Colburn of Ames, his father having preceded him in death, Dec. 31, 1916. The community mourns the death of one of its young prosperous business men who had many friends and seemed to have much in store for him in this life. The funeral service will be held Wednesday afternoon at the Methodist church conducted by Rev. C.E. Balcer under the auspices of the Knights Templar lodge of which he had been a member for some time, also being a member of the (unreadable) Woodmen orders. The interment was made in the West Union cemetery.
