Bernal Trumbull writes from Manpont, France, July 10, 1918: No doubt you will think that the Germans have bumped me off. Well, they tried their best but I am still alive. Have been in the hospital now for 11 days. I got hit June 30th at 12 o'clock, while I was eating dinner. Now don't be surprised if you can't read this as I was shot in the left arm just below the elbow. Now I am altogether right handed, all but writing, and I take my time to that. But the other wound is called serious and is in a very uncomfortable place, in my ruptitudina.

Robert Grant was home from Camp Dodge Sunday, his last visit home before leaving for France. A large number of Adair boys are in the 88th Division.
