Chris Brandt, who has been stationed at Camp Dodge as a member of the 351st Infantry Regiment of the 88th Division, which leaves soon for overseas service in France, last week was given his second promotion in July, and is now platoon sergeant. He has been in service less than three months.

Among the Adair boys who were called in the draft this week were Theodore W. Arnold, Frank Johnson, Thomas Tierney and Alexander Hanley. They left Greenfield and had to be in camp at Lytle, Ga. by this morning.

The Adair working unit for food conservation had its initial meeting at the home of Mrs. W. C. Lyle Wednesday, July 31. Kathryn Horst, county home demonstration agent at Greenfield, met with the six ladies who constitute the Adair working unit. They are Mrs. Lyle, Mrs. J. F. Walsh, Mrs. A. J. Zook, Mrs. M. M. Garnes, Mrs. E. E. Gates and Mrs. J. S. Saum.
