  Pat--

In your newspaper abstracts is there any mention of the name Busick, Busic, Buzick?

I know Edward Jones Busick and wife Margaret Allen Busick were in Fremont county May 1869 when their son, George Harrison Busick, was born.  She remarried in June 1871, so I assume Edward probably died.  She remarried in Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie county.

I sincerely thank you in advance.

  Hi Pat --

I see you are kind enough to do look-ups in Fremont County, Iowa.

I am looking for a marrige record from about 1867 for a John Enich Gilliland and an Anne E. (?).  He was living with his parents in Monroe Township in the 1860 census and moved with his new wife to Jackson Township, Gentry County, Missouri in about 1869-1870 as they are in the 1870 census there with a child born about 1868 in Iowa.

In the alternative, if you don't have time for the look-up, let me know where I can go to look for myself because I don't live that far away.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

  Hi Pat --

Thanks for checking the marriage records for me.  I really appreciate it.

The only thing I have on this family is that five of their nine children were born in Monroe Township, Fremont County, Iowa between late 1850 and early 1859.  The oldest was born in Cedar County, Iowa a year after the marriage of the parents there in 1847.  The last three were born in Missouri.

Last evening I did some more digging in my old records.  I may have been wrong about the marriage being in Fremont County.  The second youngest sister of the family was born in Gentry county Missouri in 1864 so it appears more likely that the marriage was in Missouri.  The only trouble with that is the 1870 census indicates their first child being born in Iowa.  John would have only been 16 in 1864 so unlikely he had a wife yet.

I know this is confusing so I have attached a txt file.

Again, thanks for checking for me.

Hi again Pat  --

Went out to your site.  Very nice.  Even had my Gilliland family on the 1860 census in Monroe
township.  Listing says the fathers name was Jasper but it should be James E. Gilliland.  The copy I got from Des Moines read Jas. which could very well be read as Jasper.  Some of those folks who wrote those census had handwriting almost as bad as mine.  Those old census are very hard to read.  I had quite a stuggle with the 1856 Iowa but it was a gold mine for me.  Have you done much with the 1856 census in Fremont county?

Got kind of excited when I first looked at your 1860 census.  The next family on the list was Daniels.  That is the maiden name of one of the other son's spouse.  But no Emily.  Close but no cigar.  Strange though, the Daniel's children on that census were all born in Indiana and that is where the spouse was from according to the census.  Perhaps another hard to read census??  I better check that one out as it would give me her parents and siblings.

Thanks again for your help.  If I can dig up anymore information on this bunch I may take you up on the offer to add the information to the web site.  THANKS!

   From:            "Morrow" <cmorrow@ix.netcom.com >

Hello:

I am looking for any available record of a childless family -- a husband and
his two wives (successive, not simultaneous!)

Roy Arthur Loiler's World War I draft registration (9/12/18) gives his
address as Sidney, Fremont County, IA. It gives his birth date as July 7,
1885, and lists his occupation as veterinarian. It also names Florence
Blanche Loiler as his nearest relative. A now-dead cousin told me that her
maiden name was Bullock and that Roy remarried after her death. His second
wife was my second cousin, Betha Ruth Morrow; they reportedly married in
1947 in either Iowa or Kansas.

My hope is to find obituaries for Florence (about 1945 or 1946), Roy (died
May 28, 1966, I think), and Bertha (July 1985 in Texas?). I believe Roy and
Florence are buried in Sidney.

Thank you,
Duncan Morrow

Hi Pat,
I'm trying to find out what happened to the Harry Day family that was in Sidney in 1920. He and his wife Rosella "Sally" were married in Polk Co, Iowa about 1900 or a bit earlier; he was born about 1865 and she was born about 1867. They had at least 3 children: daughter Frances (bc 1900), sons Donald (bc 1909) and John (bc 1906). Can you check the cemetery records for these people? Thanks.

Pat, My name is Sheila Ziph. My parents are Kenny and Karen Thompson and my grandma is Donna Hunter. I am trying to find searches on my twin uncles born to Charles and Wava Thompson. We don't know if they were buried in the Riverton cemetary or the Sidney cemetary. They were born after 1943 and before 1946. We think their names were James and John. I am also looking for information on my great-great parents Lee and Cinderella Renshaw. They were buried in the Hamburg cemetary in 1957 and 1959 respectively. I would like more information on when and where they were born. If there is any information on these four people that you know of I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks Sheila kkrtson@coin.heartland.net

I know that Sylvester, Malinda, Henry and George Wheeler were in Davis Co. in 1856 and the 1870 census.  I know that Malinda was in the Riverton, Fremont Co. 1880 census along with George.  I believe that the Henry, Anna, Clyde, Lulu, and Otis Wheeler family listed is probably Malinda's son Henry and his family.  I know that Malinda died in 1897 and is buried in Davis Co.  I know that my ggrandfather, George, married a woman from Van Buren Co. in 1886 and that my grandfather was born in Davis Co. in 1887.  I have found nothing for 1900 but did find them in Washington State in Douglas Co. in the 1910 Census.  I do not know when they left for there and when they arrived.  I was 10 when George passed away in Tacoma Wash.
I can find no death record, wills, etc. for Sylvester in Davis or VanBuren Co. I was hoping to find some record of him in Fremont Co., death records, burial records, will, land, something.  I thought that perhaps the family had migrated there and Sylvester died and the family moved back to where there was extended family in Davis Co.
If you can find anything, it will be helpful but if you can't, so be it. In the event that some of the data that might be useful to me is not your area of lookup could you refer someone to me?  Maybe something else will turn up in some record.  It was only a couple of weeks ago that I learned the probable identity of Sylvesters father.  Thanks,
Jim Wheeler

Subject: Collier Family

Good Afternoon-
I'm not sure if I should be sending this to you or not.  But I'm trying to find out anything I can about my family from Sidney, IA and 1 of my Great Uncles move to Tabor, IA.  But they were all form Sidney and I can't find much of anything on them except for a few old records from the museum a couple of years ago.

My Great Grandfather was John Collier, he had 3 brothers and 1 sister.  Joe, Jim, William, Sarah.  Their father owned farms around Sidney.  John had a large livery stable in town that I think burned in 1896.  Then they built the water tower were his stable was.

One of the brothers because a dentist and one had a bakery next to the water tower.

My Grandma who was John's daughter, told me this much.  She was born in Sidney.  Bessie Bell Collier.  My father who was Bessie Bell's son was my father.  I can't find anything in the census records or anyplace else on them.

I have searched and searched trying to find more than the one 1880 census record I have of my great grandparents Roland C. and Lucy A. Manrose Burdick. The record comes from the LDS Website and shows them and some of their children in Prairie Township. I’ve looked at everything on the Fremont County Website and can’t find a single reference.

I’ve been told Roland is buried in the Riverton Cemetery. He died in 1881 at a relatively young age of 53.

I think Lucy then married a Clayton. I believe she is buried immediately adjacent to her son Bradford in the Grant City (Missouri) Cemetery. Her daughter Carrie E. is buried with her. Apparently Carrie married a Coy since her headstone has that name.

Is do see some Coy families in Freemont County but cannot yet connect her to any of them.

The children included Albert, twins Bradford and Bert, Judson, Nathan, Carrie, and Alma. Can you confirm the presence of this family in Fremont County? What about the Burdick/Coy connection? Bradford (Brad) Wilkerson efactor@qconline.com
