Bert Edwards Gardner
Bert
Edwards Gardner, son of Mart and Ellen Jennings Gardner, was born in
Fremont county Oct 11, 1898, one of thirteen children. He died June
19 at his home here, after nine years of ill health. Last February
he fell and broke his hip.
He
attended the schools around Riverton. He was united in marriage
with Miss Leona Lundy in 1919, and to them six children were born:
Everett of Shenandoah; Mrs. Thelma Hall of Valley, Nebr.; Mrs. Opal
Foster of Riverton; Miss Carol Gardner of Valley, Nebr. A son,
Clarence, died in service of his country during World War Two, and
Barbara died at the age of nine.
Mr.
Gardner farmed, worked for the Farmer's Co-Op, The Fremont County
ASC and for the Shull Brothers. He was a member of Royal Neighbors
Lodge.
He was preceded in death by
his two children, his parents and five brothers’ and sisters.
Surviving are his wife; four children; eight grandchildren; four
brothers, John and Walter of Hamburg; Charles and Joe of Riverton;
three sisters, Mrs. Julia Owens, Westboro; Mrs Mabel Bean,
Shenandoah; and Mrs. Lily Huskil of El Paso, Texas; also nieces,
nephews and many friends.
Funeral
rites were held at Shull Funeral Home June 22, conducted by Rev
George Campbell. Music was recorded. Mrs. John Proctor of Sidney
had charge of the memorial book; Mrs. Ruth Monroe, Miss Grace
Gardner and Mrs. Proctor cared for flowers. Casket bearers were
Forrest Owens, Arnold Gardner, Earl Gardner, Harold Gardner, Cliff
Binns and Eugene Beam. |
