Jesse Briley Data and Obituary
submitted by: Margaret Briley Crawford: Briley1837@aol.com

Jesse Briley was born 18 Jul 1840 in Kentucky (prob. Clinton Co.) and died 25 Jan 1922 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He married Mary Jane Raines in Holt Co., MO (her family was from Atchison Co., MO). They had 14 children. It's said that he was a Confederate soldier who was taken prisoner, but I have not been able to locate even a hint of a military record for him. He's buried in Thurman, but his headstone was vandalized in the 1940s and never replaced. I am enclosing his obituary.
