--E. N. Parkhurst of Hamburg, an old soldier and well known to many of our citizens was in town last Tuesday. Mr. Parkhurst lost one leg below the knee while in the army and since coming here he has had to have the other leg amputated also below the knee. He has just got a pair of new legs and is learning to use them. He is greatly pleased with the ability to walk about again. This is but an instance of what science is doing for the alleviation of the misfortunes of humanity.
