    • LOSES BARN AND CAR IN A FIRE
      LIGHTNING STRIKES BARN OF SIDNEY MAN, SETTING IT ON FIRE
      The barn of Lee Gore was struck by lightning Sunday night and burned down. A new car was in the barn as was also burned.
    • George Vermilyra and family were visitors at the William Bosworth home over the Fourth.
    • Mrs. Van Houten has accepted work in the Fremont County Herald office.
    • Hardin Cromwell , of Arkansas, brother of Mrs. Fred Lamb, is here for a visit with relatives and friends
    • Misses Ruth Reade and Beatrice Stiles have gone to California for an extended visit with Ruth's aunt, Mrs. E. J. Green formerly Marguerite Nex, of Sidney.
    • Robert Clark, who lives north of Sidney, has been quite sick, but is now improving.
    • John Rhode and Lyle Weatherhead of Tabor were Sunday evening callers in Sidney.
    • Mrs. Ed Pierce of Geneva,Neb is visiting her sister, Nelle Carl.
    • Will Waterman, wife and daughter of Oklahoma, are visiting at the George Waterman home.
    • Chester Collett and family of near Lincoln are guest at the home of Mrs. Collett's parents, Mr. And Mrs. George Waterman.

    • SIDNEY MAN FINDS BABY ON HIS PORCH
      WAIF PRESENTED GEORGE WATERMAN WAS DAY OLD TAKEN TO BLUFFS.
      Tuesday morning about 1 o'clock a.m. George Waterman found a little boy baby on his front porch. The baby was about 24 hours old: wrapped in a blanket and laid in an old basket. He immediately called Sheriff Jorgenson and Dr. Lovelady. They took it to Council Bluffs to the Christian Home. No one has any idea who left it.
    • Dr. Nelson and family have gone to Fairfield and Birmingham to visit relatives.
    • Rube Travis and wife and Doc Travis and wife and daughter Maude, visited Barber Travis at Weeping Water, Neb., Sunday.
    • Floyd Bosworth visited in the country Friday at the home of his uncle Joe McCluskey.
    • Sydney Rende and Winnifred Verbeck were Omaha visitors Thursday.
    • A son was born Thursday night to Mr. And Mrs. Art Johnson
    • The Good Will Sunday school class of the Presbyterian church had a picnic at the park Friday evening. All of their families were invited and most enjoyable time was had.
    • Born to Julius shaaf and wife, who live east of Anderson, Friday a son
    • Harry Fletcher, a former Sidney boy, was in Sidney Thursday evening.
    • Harry was in Penn's drug store for quite awhile, and now is traveling salesman out of Omaha.
    • Mrs. Virgil Dilts, little son and mother, Mrs. Rood of Randolph, are visitors in Sidney, Thursday.
    • John Adams of the Ford station was in Omaha last week looking after some new Fords that were to be driven to Sidney.
    • Mrs. John Gray left last week for a visit with her daughter, Helen, in Chicago.
    • Mrs. Mary Nix visited in Thurman last week, and while there was a guest of the Sunshine circle, who had a picnic at the home of Mrs. Solleder, a bonnteous picnic supper and an enjoyable visit was enjoyed.
    • Miss Ivy Picard of Portsmouth, IA is being entertained at the country home of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Sells east of town.
    • Mr. And Mrs. S.T. Nix and girls are visiting in Glenwood this week.
