The Sidney Argus-Herald began in 1927, a merger of two newspapers; the Fremont County Herald, and the Sidney Argus. The Fremont County Herald started in 1885, and the Sidney Argus started in 1916.

The Fremont County Herald staff is shown in the photo. The original publisher of the Sidney Argus_Herald, W. H. Howe is 2nd from the right. The West family kept the publication going for 67 years!
