Charles Murray, youngest child of Mr and Mrs Albert Murray, born Aug 3, 1905 and died Sept 1, 1914, aged 9 years and 28 days....Interment in Hamburg cemetery....

Mrs Rose Plant died at the home of her brother J.H. Engle...stricken with paralysis. Miss Rose Engle was born in Kalamazoo, Mich., May 3, 1857, and died at Hamburg, Ia., August 30, 1914, 57 years, 3 months and 27 days. She was married to Louis Plant in 1875, and he died in the year 1891. Since his death she has made her home with her brother, for several years resided in Kansas City. A couple of years ago she moved back to Hamburg with her brother's family. Besides her brother she leaves one sister, Mrs Brookfelt of Chicago.

The six weeks old son of Mr and Mrs E.E. Hobbs passed away Saturday following a sickness with which he had been afflicted since birth. Family recently moved here from Red Oak and the father was in Des Moines doing guard duty at the fair when death occurred.

H. Fredenburg returned to his home in Danbury, Ia., Monday morning after a visit at the George McClory home. Harry lived a large portion of his life in Fremont county, and in the flood of '81 arrived in Hamburg on a flatboat in company with a number of others who were surrounded on the Payne land.

Mrs Sarah Yates died at the home of her daughter, Mrs A.G. Brower, in south Hamburg, Wednesday morning at 9:30 o'clock, at the age of 72 years.

Death came to Thomas E. McBride at the home of his mother in south Hamburg Wednesday evening at five o'clock after a sickness lasting for many months and from which he had been confined to his bed for the past two weeks. Tom has had heart and liver trouble, and could not get medical aid that would give other than temporary help. Tom was the youngest son of Mrs M. McBride, and leaves beside his mother, three brothers, Ollie and Lawrence of this place and Earl of Omaha, and a sister, Mrs O.B. Long of Hamburg. He was 29 years, 1 month and 11 days of age, and has lived all his life in and about Hamburg, having been born in Atchison county [Missouri]. The funeral services will be held at the home today (Friday) at 1 o'clock, conducted by Rev B.H. Coonradt, and interment will be made in the local cemetery.

Jim Dimmitt and Mrs George Townsend wed at home of Mr and Mrs H.B. Williams. Will live at Hamburg....

On Tuesday of this week at 3 pm occurred the death of Mrs M.C. Wooten at her home in Riverton, at the age of 69 years, 5 months and 8 days. Mrs Wooten with her family lived east of town for some twenty years and is well and favorably known over the southern part of the county. She is survived by a husband, three sons, John, James and David and two daughters: Mrs Joe Simpson and Mrs Wes Dimmett. The funeral services were held at Mt Olive church Thursday morning at 11 o'clock conducted by Rev John Zuck and interment was made in the Mt Olive cemetery. Thus has ended a long life of usefulness, and the loving mother, wife and dear neighbor has gone to rewards beyond.

Mrs Jim Veach died in Denver Monday from tubercular trouble which had been troubling her for some time. Last May they passed through Hamburg from Hopkins, Mo on their way west in the hope that the change of climate might benefit her. She was a sister of Mrs Neal Shoemake of this place. The remains were shipped to Hopkins where interment was made on Thursday. Neal Shoemake and wife went from here to attend the funeral. Mrs Veach was about twenty-five years of age.

John Holland received word Saturday of the birth of a daughter in the home of Mr and Mrs W.H. Holland of Council Bluffs [Iowa]. Mr and Mrs John Holland are the grandparents of twenty-five and the great grandparents of two. This is without doubt a record which is not equaled by many in southwestern Iowa. Mrs Holland has been in the Bluffs for a week, and John thinks he will go up today and get acquainted with the new arrival.
