Word was received on November 12, 2004 that Jarrod Maher of Imogene, Iowa was killed in Iraq.  He was a 21-year old Cpl in the USMC. 

Lance Corporal Jarrod Maher, age 21 from Imogene, Iowa, is the son of Kevin and Jacque Mahr.  He has 3 brothers Tyler (18), Danny (15), and Nick (15). Jarrod was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church at Imogene.

Jarrod graduated from Shenandoah High School in May 2002 and left June 3 for Marine Corps boot camp at MCRD, San Diego, California where he graduated August 30, 2002. He then completed his training at the Marine School of Infantry at Camp Pendleton, California where he graduated November 8, 2002 as a 0351 assaultman.

He began serving with his unit the 1st Marine Division, 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, Bravo Company. He was deployed January 17, 2003 on the USS Dubuque that arrived in Kuwait February 24. He is was connected with the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force In Iraq.
