These photographs are of the Mead/Keys families, some of the early settlers of Fremont County.  The first Talbert Mead and his family settled in Fremont Co. about 1867-68. He owned most of the river bottom land in Benton Twp. and some in the Washington Twp. in the late 1800s.

The second Talbert Mead married the daughter of Alexander Keys that also settled in Fremont Co. c1870.
