Fremont County, Iowa

Lovelady Cemetery
Washington Township
(Section 26, Twp. 68, Range 42)

The Lovelady farm was located on the top of a high hill above the Nishnabotna River. It was also called Pleasant Grove.

William M. Lovelady arrived in Fremont Couny in 1842. He was one of the members of the Pleasant Grove Christian Church, and started one of the oldest and historically important cemeteries in the county.

William Lovelady died December 16, 1896. Unfortunately, the stones in the cemetery were somehow buried too deep to be salvaged and no records have been found.
