The pictures on this page are military in nature.  They are probably on other pages also, but I wanted to put them all in one place for ease of use.

The pictures on this page are not at a very high resolution.  If you would like a high resolution scan of the picture, please contact the submitter to see if he/she will send it to you.

WWI Veteran's Flag

Submitted by Tom & Janis Hicks

In my church in rural Dows, IA, about 13 miles from Hampton, we found a handmade World War I Veteran's flag, stuffed into a manilla envelope.  It has some deterioration.  The church is planning to frame and display it.  We've contact the Iowa State Historical and has received instructions.  The flag  (attached picture) lists names on the back.  We're trying to locate these men through family of some, but are at a loss on others.  I've checked the Franklin County IaGenWeb page and Wright County page. Have found a few draft registrations, but not all.  We believe 2 men died, but I don't know where to go to confirm.  We're trying to find rank, unit and where they served for each man.  Any help you can give me woudl be appreciated.
