Chapin Baptist Church
A Baptist congregation was organized by Rev. T. H. Judson in 1865. It was called the Chapin Baptist Church. Those present at the first meeting were:

Charter members were Laura Grenelle, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Cannam and Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Harnard. By 1871, members were being transferred to other churches. The records were not clear but the church was discontinued. It had been held in the school. This information was obtained from the Chapin Baptist Church minutes found in the State Historical Building at Des Moines.
