"I found a marriage entry for William (Guilhelmum) Westendorf on Jan 21, 1873 at Sts Peter & Paul parish in St. Louis. He was the son of Herman Heinrich Westendorf and Gesina Sebers?? In the emigration index in Osnabrueck there was an entry for Johan William Westendorf born Sept. 2 1844 who emigrated from Eisten, Soegel before 1866. Looks like a good fit and if it is he could be a half-brother of Ulrich or at least a cousin. I have him on my Soegel look-up list to verify the birthdate and to see what parents' names are on that record. Wilhelm married Elizabeth Meyer, daughter of Bernard Meyer and Elizabeth Frohe. Witnesses were Ferdinand Lahn/Lahr and H Gutting." I wasn't sure what to make of it all. Sts. Peter & Paul was where U & F were m. also. I'd thought that Ulrich's dad, Heinrich , probably had a brother, Herman Heinrich who was a teacher at Ostenwalde or Werlte and a sponsor for Ulrich's brother, Herman Anton. My guess would be that William was probably a nephewto Ulrich and possibly the son of his brother Herman Anton b. 4 yrs. before Ulrich. From all the Lamping research we know that Herman Anton & Herm Heinrich could have been the same. There also could have been another brother which my researcher missed. Maybe we will know more if Barba does follow up on it. I would guess that maybe Ulrich sponsored William's emigration and that William may have followed him to Davenport as well. I probably need to request a City Dir. look-up for William in St. Louis from 1870-on. If this is our Wm. we have him b. 1844; emig. bef. 1866 (abt. 22); in Dav. in 1869, (age 25); & he m. in St. L. in 1873 at age 29. I'll see what I can find in St. L.
