Notes for Dick Siebrands

I don't really remember Opa Siebrands before his stroke, but I remember he always had a smiling face. I do remember that he never seemed to speak English, but German, and I think that was because of the stoke. Every Sunday when we would leave, Mom would say go say Good-Bye, and I would go shake hands with all the men in the living room.

Notes for Trena Goldhorn

Oma Siebrands was Mom's mother. I stayed with her many a time, and I loved every minute of it. In my later years, I remember she had pain, but I don't know what from. I loved listening to her tell stories of how things were when she was younger. During the last days of her life, she was in the hospital in Rock Rapids, and I finally could go in and see her. She died in June, and I had just told her that I was getting a hearing aid, and she was so happy for me. Every Sunday, when it was time to leave, Mom would say good-bye to everyone, and I would go and give Oma a kiss good-bye.
