Michael Ramsey came and settled on the southeast corner of Section 20 in 1837. Mr. Ramsey was a native of the state of Maryland. He was an enterprising citizen and did his full share in helping to build up the things which pertained to the public good. Was the father of four sons and two daughters. His sons, George and Upton, were members of the First Iowa Calvary during the Civil War. Mr. Ramsey was a Whig until the disruption of that party, when he became a Republican.
