Richard William Smith age 69 died Sunday September 18, 2011 in Gainesville, FL.

Richard grew up in Iowa and attended the University of Florida and the University of Minnesota earning degrees in Physics and Accounting. He loved guitar, piano, music, math, science, literature, philosophy, genealogy, traveling, nature and family. Richard loved everything about life and learning. He passed this passion for life and learning on to his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his mother, brother, sister, four sons and six grandchildren. Services will be private.
