From the Dubuque Telegraph Herald of 1919: GEORGE PFOHL MOURNED IN DEATHGeorge Pfohl, born in Jefferson Township on September 14, 1848, died at his homein Balltown, Iowa (Sherrill, Iowa). His wife died March 29, 1915 at age 64. Survivingare a brother, Joseph, and a sister, Mrs. Thomas Duster, both of Dubuque, Iowa; hischildren, George, Matt and Katy of Dubuque, Joe of Galena, Frank of Milwaukee, Lenaof Balltown, and John of Sherrill, Iowa. His son, Peter of Balltown, preceded him indeath; also Edward, Henry and Clara, who died as children.He was a person of strong christian character which earned him a large circleof friends. He was buried in Balltown Cemetery aside of his wife.Back to the main page.
