From the Dubuque Telegraph Herald of 1919:
GEORGE PFOHL MOURNED IN DEATH
	George Pfohl, born in Jefferson Township on September 14, 1848, died at his home
 in Balltown, Iowa (Sherrill, Iowa).  His wife died March 29, 1915 at age 64. Surviving
 are a brother, Joseph, and a sister, Mrs. Thomas Duster, both of Dubuque, Iowa; his 
 children, George, Matt and Katy of Dubuque, Joe of Galena, Frank of Milwaukee, Lena 
 of Balltown, and John of Sherrill, Iowa.  His son, Peter of Balltown, preceded him in
 death; also Edward, Henry and Clara, who died as children.
 
	He was a person of strong christian character which earned him a large circle
 of friends.  He was buried in Balltown Cemetery aside of his wife.
