Gerald Lee Fisher

 

Gerald “Gerry” Lee Fisher, 86, of Burlington, Iowa, died on Friday, May 2, 2014 at Burlington Care Center. 

Born on April 6, 1928 in Burlington, Iowa, he was the son of Harry Benton & Katherine Brockelman Fisher.  On December 29, 1947 he married Catherine “Kay” Elizabeth Grothe at St. John Catholic Church in Burlington, Iowa.  

Gerald was owner and operator of Fisher Roto Rooter Company for 60 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, his Mississippi Cabin and watching the Chicago Bulls.

Survivors include his wife, Kay; two daughters, Susan J. Johnson and Christina “Tina”.(Richard “Dick”) Lord, both of Burlington;  four sons, Terry L. (Ginger) Fisher , Tom (Mary Jo) Fisher, Steve Fisher & Jason Fisher, all of Burlington; 20 grandchildren, Angie Friday, Trent Friday, Adam (Sandy) Fisher, Justin (Alisha) Fisher, Paul (Sherry) Crow, Nicholas (Michelle) Crow, Stacy (Alan) Crow-McFarlane, Pam (Dave) Lord-Young, Jim Lord, Claire Beckman, Greer (Erildo Zyka) Beckman, Jacob (Maurin) Fisher, Jill (Kirk) Hinrich, Jeremy (Bri) Johnson, Jared Johnson, Joshua (Rylee) Johnson, Stephanie Fisher, Benton Fisher, Trevor Fisher and Madeline Fisher; 24 great-grandchildren, Zach, Luke, Kayty, Delaney, Derrick, Jude, Jesse, Joe, Jami, Braeden, Baylee, Bella, Eli, Jordyn, Ava, Josie, TJ, Kenzie, Kyla, Tailor, Quinci, Zan, Elysia and MaKenzie; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Maurene Kay (Fisher) Beckman; grandson, Chad Crow; one sister, Bonnie Lauth; one brother, Stan Fisher.

The Funeral Mass will be Monday, May 12, 2014 at St. John Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service. Fr. Marty Goetz will officiate.  Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.  Music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir.

Cremation has been entrusted to Prugh Funeral Service. A memorial has been established in memory of Gerald Fisher.
