Donald George Bowen, 80, of Tucson, Arizona, died Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Villa Campana Skilled Nursing in Tucson. He was born on March 18, 1934 in Burlington, Iowa, the son of Donald Oliver Bowen and Catherine Roscum Bowen.

He attended and graduated from Burlington Junior College and the University of Iowa where he received a Bachelor of Science degree. He was a member of Delta Upsilon fraternity.

He had formerly worked at the IAAP, IRC, and J.I. Case as well as several other companies. He was a member of the Des Moines County Genealogy Society and the Des Moines County Historical Society. He was a past member of Messiah Lutheran Church and the Unitarian Fellowship.

He is survived by one son, Jim Bowen (Carolyn Hennings), of Leesburg, Virginia; two daughters, Celia Adler of Tucson, Arizona, and Cindy Bowen (Rachel Ayers) of Burlington, Iowa; two children from a previous marriage; three grandchildren Tyler, Jessica, and Ben; and one sister, Elora Curtis of Nipomo, California. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services for Donald Bowen will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at10:30 a.m. Prugh’s Chapel. Pastor Susan Smith will officiate. Interment of ashes will be at 2:00 p.m. in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established. Arrangements are being entrusted to Prugh Funeral Service.
