Hello Cay,My name is Jeff Eggleston and I am researching my family tree. I noticed you article about the village of Augusta. It has been beleived that my Great Grandfather Hezekiah came to Augusta with the Moffet colony in 1835. In your article I noticed that his name was not mentioned. The article did mention the Barb name and I know that Hezekiah did wed Mary Ann Barb. Here is the obit for my Great Grandfather.....May 10, 1897

"Mr. Hezekiah Eggleston died at his home in Augusta on the morning of May 8th at half past four. Mr. Eggleston was one of Lee couty's old settlers, having come to South Augusta with the Moffet colony, which arrived at Flint Hills May 12, 1835. The colony consisted of forty persons who were the first white settlers in Augusta. Remaining here for some years he then returned to his former home in Trumbull county, Ohio, where he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Barb in 1844, returning again to Augusta where they have spent a long, happy married life. He was a good citizen, a good neighbor, an exceptionally kind and loving father and husband. He leaves his aged wife, four sons, two daughters, beside one brother and one sister to mourn their loss. Willingly he crossed the river to better land, knowing although he could not return they could go to him. He was born in Trumbull county, Ohio, December 20, 1820, and is believed to have been the last living member of the Moffet Colony."Would you happen to have any info regarding my Great Grandfather or know any details as to why his name did not appear? Please help me put the pieces together.......Thank you so much..Jeff Eggleston
