The marriage of Ramon Yohe and Miss Eva Wright took place at 6:30 o’clock Thursday evening, February 16, (1899) at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Wright near Shellbark.
The evening was perfectly beautiful and if there is any truth in the old ‘happy is the bride that splendor shines on’ the new heart will be exceedingly happy. The features were fine. Precisely at the time two loving hearts were scheduled to be made one, the gaiety of the guests was hushed by sweet strains of music which pealed forth from the adjoining room. These soft sweet strains continued during the ceremony, then gracefully died away in the gentle zephyr fragrance as two loving hearts were solemnly and tenderly made one.
The bride and groom with composed grace entered the room, took their places beneath a beautiful arch erected for the occasion, when Rev. Mr. Knight of Columbus Junction, with a few chosen words pronounced them husband and wife. Congratulations immediately followed, after which all were shown into the dining room, where a large table was made to groan beneath the good things provided, everything in season. All seemed to take in the situation and do ample justice.
Miss Eva is one of our best girls with a host of friends, loved and respected by all, and with grace of mind and heart that cannot help but give her a place in the hearts of fair Mediapolis society.
Ramon comes to us well recommended and his manner is such as to make us feel that Eva has made no mistake but has done well.
More than 50 invited guests were in attendance and so pleasantly was the evening spent, it was really with regrets when the time came to say good night to Mr. and Mrs. Wright who had so enjoyably entertained us. Many beautiful presents were left as tokens of love and good will. They start out in life without a cloud and with the wishes of a host of friends that they may live in perpetual sunshine.
