Pegtown Cemetery has been designated a Pioneer Cemetery by the Des Moines County Pioneer Cemetery Commission.

Pegtown Cemetery is located in Benton Township, section 4. It is about three miles west of Kingston, on a gravel road.

Previously, there was a school and church in the center of the section; both are no longer there. To the south, on a farm and south of a pond, there are two broken headstones lying in a cow pasture. A sign has been ordered and will be installed in the spring. The Des Moines Pioneer Cemetery Commission must decide whether to create a memorial here or to move the stones to a safe location for display.
