Sgt. Stan R. Muckler promotion, 1944

Muckler, in India - Now Staff Sergeant

Promotion of Sgt. Stan R. Muckler of Manchester, Iowa, to the rank of Staff Sergeant has been announced at the Headquarters of a Bomber Command heavy bombardment squadron with which he is now serving at a base somewhere in India. S/Sgt. Muckler is the son of Mr. H.R. Muckler, R. F. D. No. 4, Manchester, Iowa. Following his graduation from the Manchester High School in 1939 he attended Upper Iowa University at Fayette, Iowa for 3 1/2 years prior to his entrance into the U.S. Army Air Corps. Here he completed his necessary credits for a Business Administration major and Physical Education minor. He was a member of the Rho Sigma Chi Social Fraternity and Phi Rho Zeta Business honorary fraternity and was also active in Golden Gloves boxing circles. He graduated from the Air Corps Photography School, Lowry Field, Denver, Colorado, and Combat Intelligence School, Salt Lake City, Utah, prior to his aerial journey overseas. S/Sgt. Muckler whose primary duty is serving as a Squadron Intelligence Section Chief is a member of the B-29 Super fortress Squadron which is currently in combat over the Japanese homeland. Stan was formerly employed by the Coliseum and C. G. W. Railroad in Oelwein, before entering the service.
